I’m a food lover who lives to cook, bake, eat and explore new foods.  This blog was born as a way to combat boredom and it has blossomed into more than I could have imagined.  I’ve uncovered a deep passion for all things food and an amazing community of like minds.  Originally from Guyana, I chose to blog about cuisine from Guyana and the Caribbean because I felt as though there is a lack of authentic recipes online.   Our Grandmothers and Mothers cooked with a pinch of this and a handful of that; there were no real measurements which made it virtually impossible to recreate the dishes we grew up on.  In an effort to help make our food accessible, I will share both authentic recipes that our Moms would make and as well as modernized versions.

My passion for all things food and the wonderful feedback from my readers keep me inspired.  If I’m not in the kitchen cooking I’m thinking about what to cook next.   From time to time I will share bits and pieces of my life as well as memories of growing up in Guyana.   Currently I am Stay-at-Home Mom; I cook, photograph and write during nap time.   So join me in my little corner of the web.

Where do you find inspiration for your blog?

I find inspiration any and everywhere, from the Internet, grocery store, cook books, my refrigerator and just my imagination.

What is your favorite kitchen gadget that you cannot do without?

My Cuisinart Stand up Mixer without a question!!

I’ve noticed a lot of West Indian dishes on your blog, where are you from?

I am from Guyana, South America originally.  Our cuisine is a mixture of Indian, Caribbean, English, Chinese and African foods.   I came here as a child but I’m still very attached to my culture and food.  Roti and Curry is my soul food.

What kind of camera/equipment do u use?

I use a Kodak MD81 Canon T3 equipped with my trusty tripod.  I highly recommend using a tripod, its the difference between a blurry shot and a perfectly crystal clear photo.  As for lighting, I use only natural light.

How do I contact you if I have any questions?
